On Wednesday (4/5), FX Networks released the first trailer for The Legacy of J Dilla.

The 42 second trailer features DJ Jazzy Jeff and Dilla's mother, Ma Dukes speaking about Dilla turning "sample grabbing" into an art form and how he kept his illness private. The documentary, presented by The New York Times, is described as “an intimate portrait” of the acclaimed producer, who passed away in 2006. The documentary chronicles his rise to fame, and the subsequent control over his legacy, and features exclusive access to Dilla's family. The Legacy of J Dilla will air simultaneously on Hulu and FX on April 7.

In other Dilla news, Dres of Black Sheep announced an upcoming collaborative project produced solely by Dilla at Washington D.C.'s National Hip Hop Museum Induction Ceremony on Saturday (3/11). During his acceptance speech, the "Flavor of The Month" MC revealed that he is working on "some really, really new dope shit."

"This is gonna speak for us. Who we are, what we do, and this moment right here," he said. Dres went on to explain that he doesn't currently make music out of a need to, but rather because he loves to. "This gives me the flexibility to be dope, but I need y'all to support. This particular project is a D&D project — Dilla & Dres. Through the blessing of Ma Dukes and my man Tony, I've been allowed to visit a sacred land."
