On January 27, 2004, Chicago MC Twista dropped his most successful album Kamikaze.

Kamikaze is Twista's fourth studio album and his first to be certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album was produced by an A-list group of producers including Kanye West, Jazze Pha, The Legendary Traxter and Red Spyda with features from Too $hort, 8 Ball, Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, T.I., Cee-lo Green, Anthony Hamilton, R. Kelly and Memphis Bleek.

"Slow Jamz," the first single from Kamikaze was released in early December of 2003 and was produced by and featured Kanye West and Jamie Foxx. The single, with its chop of Luther Vandross' "A House Is Not A Home", pays homage to the great ballads and balladeers of yesteryear. "Slow Jamz" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The momentum of "Slow Jamz" was perfect promotion for Kamikaze, which arrived a month later.

Kamikaze produced five singles: "Slow Jamz," Overnight Celebrity," "So Sexy," "Sunshine" and "So Sexy: Chapter 2." "Overnight Celebrity," featuring and produced by Kanye West, was the album's second single and also reached the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100. The chop of Lenny Williams' "Cause I Love You" drives the track which follows a template very similar to "Slow Jamz."

"So Sexy," the album's third single, was produced by and featured the vocals of Chicago's R. Kelly and reached the Billboard Top 40, peaking at #25 on the Hot 100. In a website statement promoting Kamikaze Twista stated that he wanted to show the streets that he was back with this project and he expressed the desire to finally go platinum.

The album opener "Get Me," "Pimp On" featuring Too $hort and 8 Ball and "Art & Life" featuring Memphis Bleek and Freeway indeed were a return to the street on the R&B heavy project.

On Kamikaze, Twista mastered the rapid, triplet flow that placed him in the Guiness Book of World Records when he was known as Mr. Tung Twister. The album received average critical reviews from publications such as Rolling Stone, USA Today and Vibe but the people spoke and delivered Twista his first platinum plaque.
