Irv Gotti has been reportedly declared dead at 54, after a series of diabetes related strokes. He suffered another stroke this week, which rendered him unresponsive and on life support according to AllHipHop. Gotti suffered a stroke last year, and a Gotti rep made a statement to TMZ about the mogul's condition. "Irv has been struggling with diabetes for years, which caused him to have a minor stroke over six months ago," the rep shared. "He has since changed his diet and is eating more healthy. He's been successful in making a full recovery."

Gotti, born Irving Lorenzo, and known as DJ Irv is the founder of Murder Inc., the label that birthed Ja Rule and Ashanti. In addition to producing hits for his own stable of artists, he worked with Jennifer Lopez, DMX, Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Christina Milian, Lloyd, Keyshia Cole, Mic Geronimo and Mary J. Blige. Gotti operated Murder Inc records from 1999 until 2004 when it was renamed The INC Records. In 2016 the label returned to its original name, Murder Inc.
