Jewell Caples, former singer for Death Row Records, has reportedly died. Death Row artist/producer Daz Dillinger of Tha Dogg Pound announced the news today (May 6). Known professionally as simply Jewell, Caples was signed to Death Row Records from 1992 to 1996 and worked with N.W.A., Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

“RIP rest in peace. I’m sad this really hurt but Jewell passed this morning," Daz posted to Instagram. "Wow Death Row for life, we gone miss her. Classic music family over everything.”

The singer shared that she'd gone repeatedly to the hospital; and she was released after her symptoms reversed.

In the 1990s, Jewell sang on major Death Row songs like "Dre Day" and "Let Me Ride" from Dr. Dre's classic 1992 album The Chronic; she also appeared on the platinum-selling Above The Rim soundtrack, and on Snoop's Doggystyle and Murder Was The Case. She released her own hit single, a cover of Shirley Brown's "Woman To Woman," in 1994.
