Vevo and Doechii have released a new Footnotes episode centered around the making of her video, 'DENIAL IS A RIVER'. Co-directors Carlos Acosta and James Mackel share insights into the visuals, which are inspired by Black 90's sitcoms such as Family Matters and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. "DENIAL IS A RIVER" was featured on Doechii's Grammy award winning album, Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Doechii recently won her first Grammy at the 2025 Grammy Awards where she took home the Best Rap Album Grammy for her 2024 project, Alligator Bites Never Heal. In her acceptance speech an emotional Doechii pointed out the fact that two women previous to her won in the Best Rap Album category.

"This category was introduced in 1989 and two women have won, Lauryn Hill - three women have won," she said to thunderous applause. "Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii."
