Jay-Z might be performing at the 2023 Grammys. Though nothing has been confirmed, HITS Daily Double suggests Jay may hit the stage with DJ Khaled to perform one of the most talked about songs last year, "God Did" from Khaled's album of the same name. The song is up for three awards, including Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.
Jay has had an up-and-down relationship with the Grammys. There's the time Beyoncé's Lemonade failed to win Album of the Year, a mindboggling loss that even Adele, who won, didn't get (she broke her award in half to offer it to Bey). Then there's the year Jay's 4:44 earned eight nominations, more than any other artist that year, and he walked away with nothing. He addressed it on "Ape Shit" from his collaboration album with Beyonce, Everything Is Love — "Tell the Grammys fuck that 0 for eight shit." He's also previously boycotted the Grammys altogether in 1999 after DMX wasn't even nominated after having not one, but two number 1 albums in one year, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. Even still, with their latest releases, including Bey's critically-acclaimed Renaissance, Jay and Beyoncé are now tied for the most Grammy nominations of all time.
No matter who hits the stage, this year's Grammys does feature a big win for Hip-Hop icon Slick Rick. The Hip-Hop legend is set to receive the 2023 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Grammys take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5.
