Indeed, Missy is looking youthful and happy as ever. The talented multi-hyphenate has also been on a roll as of late — she had a street named after her in Portsmouth, VA, she received a wax statue at the Wax Museum, teamed with Patrón El Alto or the launch of their new prestige expression, Patrón El Alto, and celebrated her hit album, Under Construction, turning 20. She was also recently nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the first female rapper to ever achieve the feat.
“I have cried my eyes out,” she said of the nomination on Instagram. "I am so HUMBLY GRATEFUL for this nomination with also 14 other Amazing artist so grateful[.] To All of you & my fans who been through this journey with me. I Thank You also 4 helping me get here[.] YOU ROCK.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, she talked about her status as an innovator.
“I’ve done so many things out of the box, and I try to stay as true to myself as I can, even if ‘myself’ seems a bit crazy. I continuously push the envelope just to do something that’s greater than the last. And it just keeps getting higher, the expectations for myself. Not just from what I think the people expect, but from myself.”
