Fresh off the release of his Flying High EP, The Alchemist has released a video featuring Larry June and Jay Worthy for “Midnight Oil."
Directed by NewHigh Filmz, the acclaimed beatsmith showcases his lyrical skills on the track, rapping: “Chasing the paper like it was running from me / I’m in the spot counting hundreds until my thumbs is bloody.”
Of course, Larry June is focused as ever, delivering lines like: “Got my feet wet when I was seventeen / First time cruising down the blade was like a movie scene,” he raps before World Wide Worthy takes over.
Meanwhile, Jay raps: “Church, like I’m the heavenly one / Counting hundreds in a two piece with a top hat like I’m Reverend Run,” while hanging out backstage with friends including Big Sean.
In an interview with ROCK THE BELLS last year, The Alchemist talked about his approach to production.
“When you're a student, you develop your style," he said. "You become your own thing. Later on, you become a teacher and then you're teaching. If you get past that teaching stage, you get to a stage where the student becomes a teacher. Now, if you're wise enough, you can learn from your students. That's the final stage."
