Day, who rose to fame in the early 80s through his work with funk band, The Time, explained that finding his signature style was process that he discovered through time.
"It was just a process," he explained to Shanté. "It was who I am, and all that was just destiny. I just had to find out."
Day told the story of how The Time initially couldn't find a singer to front the band. Eventually, Prince looked in his direction to fill spot.
"Prince kind of pushed me out there, and I"m glad he did," Day recalled, adding that he's a "world class drummer" and was at first comfortable in that position before discovering his "cool."
