Nicki Minaj is set to star in a new animated series, Lady Danger.
The series is based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name written by Alex de Campi, and will be executive produced by Minaj and 50 Cent under his G-Unit Film & TV banner. Brian Sher, and Paul Young & Mike Griffin for Make Good Content will also serve as executive producers.
The series will be written by executive producers Carlton Jordan and Crystle Roberson and is set in the year 2075. According to Deadline, the story follows "a government field agent who is left for dead by her team after discovering a dangerous secret, only to be resurrected as Lady Danger, an Afrofuturistic ass-kicking Agent of B.O.O.T.I (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention), who must conceal her true identity while she fights villains who are destroying the earth and its vulnerable inhabitants."
The announcement follows 50 Cent's continued ventures into TV and film. He recently teased another upcoming project, this one possibly involving the popular Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, specifically Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. As of now, it's still speculation because the mogul didn't elaborate on the project. “I will explain this later, GLG,” 50 Cent captioned his post. “Green Light gang. This s**t is bigger than ‘Power,’ trust me. Boom.”
50's Hollywood endeavors have been hugely successful thus far, starting with his Power franchise as well as his latest hit series, BMF. In addition, the rapper/mogul is working on a new 8 Mile series, which is a spinoff of the 2002 box office hit that was loosely based on Eminem's life. He also recently inked a non-exclusive multi-project broadcast direct deal with Fox Entertainment. In that deal, he'll “develop scripted dramas, live-action comedies, and animated series” in partnership with his G-Unit Film & Television production company.
As for Nicki, she recently launched a record label. Patty Lauren, also known as Patty Duke, will be A&R, while the roster includes Nana Fofie, Tate Kobang, Rico Danna, and London Hill.
A release date for Lady Danger has yet to be announced.
