Naughty By Nature entered the game in '91 with an anthem. "OPP" the lead single from their debut self-titled album not only put them on the map, but it also became a pop culture acronym and gave them their first hit. There was no sophomore jinx with their next album with its lead single, the anthem "Hip-Hop Hooray."

"Hip-Hop Hooray" contained everything that makes a hit song - a dope beat with a catchy melody, and a catchy hook. Naughty always went beyond the catchy hook and made theirs infectious. "Hip-Hop Hooray" served as Treach, Vinny, and Kay-Gee's love letter to and celebration of Hip-Hop, and it was the perfect lead single to set up the album 19 Naughty III. The single sold over one million copies in the U.S. and reached number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart. It also reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100.

As Naughty's anthems do, "Hip-Hop Hooray" banged on the street level and also resonated with the MTV Spring Break crowd.

19 Naughty III was produced by Kay-Gee and featured Freddie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Heavy D. and Rottin Razkals. The second single "It's On" was released in the summer of '93 and highlighted Treach and his rapid-fire flow along with Vin's more laid-back cadence. "Put me on a planet dammit where all the ladies look like Janet" Treach spits over Kay-Gee's mid-tempo track. "Written On Ya' Kitten" was the album's third and last single which finds Treach serenading the young ladies in a way that only he can over a jazzed-out track.

"Ready For Dem" with a drum track that is nearly identical to "Hip-Hop Hooray" features Heavy D with his ragga-influenced flow. The song perfectly illustrates how seamlessly the Heavster could switch flows to accommodate mainstream R&B heavy tracks as well as more rugged underground beats. "Sleepin On Jersey" is an uptempo banger that features the group's mentor Queen Latifah returning to her early reggae style and singing the hook. 19 Naughty III was a solid follow-up to the group's groundbreaking debut album and was certified platinum and peaked at 67 on Billboard 200 and 17 on the Top R&B. Hip-Hop Album chart.
