Xzibit appeared recently on an episode of Sway In The Morning, where he discussed Saafir's passing, unreleased Saafir music, and an upcoming Golden State project. "When Saafir passed me and Rass went up there, and we were all in the same room with Chop Black," he said. "It was tears, trying to say goodbye, and Saafir's son came and it was just family, then he passed.

I came home and we were working on the deluxe version of King Maker, and my son Tremaine asked where the song was with me Rass, and Saafir. Turns out that Saafir has a whole album that he never put out." Xzibit says that a new Golden State album is coming, and that he will give the proceeds to his son, and that Rass Kass' son's who are in Coast Contra will also participate as well as Lil Saafir. Born Reggie Gibson, Saafir died at age 54, in November of 2024. The MC, producer,and actor was a member of The Golden State Warriors with Ras Kass and Xzibit. Saafir and members of The Hobo Junction battled Casual and Hiero in 1994, bringing massive attention to the Bay Area Hip-Hop scene.

Saafir was 2Pac's roommate, and a dancer for Digital Underground. He also appeared on their 1993 album, The Body Hat Syndrome. Saafir also made an appearance in the 1993 film Menace II Society. His debut solo album, Boxcar Sessions debuted in 1994 on Quincy Jones' Qwest Records.
