DJ Premier remains one of Hip-Hop's busiest producers and today he dropped "Heroes" with Macklemore.
In the song, Macklemore speaks about how he looked up to the bad guys as a youth. "When I grew up criminals were my heroes, the beanie from New Jersey drive over my earlobes," he rhymes.
Preemo laces Mack with a horn-heavy boom bap track with his signature scratched vocal for the hook. In a promo video for the single, Premier speaks about what keeps him going. "The new stuff can't exist without the root of it," he says. "I'm addicted to keeping the culture alive. Sixteen years later and I'm ready to cook up another banger. And I still enjoy it. If I stop, I feel that a big chunk will be missing."
"Heroes" is the first single from Macklemore's upcoming album Ben. His UK and Europe tour of the same name kicks off in April.
