LeVar Burton Has Some Reading Advice for Kanye West

Folks have been in a tizzy ever since Kanye West went on the Alo Yoga podcast Alo Mind Full and claimed that he's never read a book. "When you said ‘I hadn’t read this book,’ I actually haven’t read any book,” Ye said. “Reading is like eating brussel sprouts for me. And talking is like getting the Giorgio Baldi corn ravioli.”

Of course, since Ye recently opened a school Donda Academy (which is not yet accredited and requires its student's parents to sign NDAs), the statement caused even more of splash. America's favorite reading advocate LeVar Burton, the former iconic host of Reading Rainbow and star of Star Trek: The Next Generation chimed in on the discussion.

"Hmmm…I’m going have to take Mr. West at his word," he wrote on Twitter after retweeting a Huff Post article detailing the matter. "I hope however, that he shares a different message with the children enrolled in the school he’s founded named after his mother, who was an professor of English. I’m fairly certain she read a book or two.”

Ye has been in the news quite a bit lately. He recently dissolved his relationship with Gap and says Adidas could be up next, and has said that everything in his Ye Supply Store will be sold for $20. There's also word that he's potentially looking to sell his publishing, though that information has not been confirmed by him, or anyone in his camp as of yet.

Take a look at Ye's thoughts about reading below.
