Killer Mike has teamed up with Atlanta brewery, Monday Night Brewing to support a charity, PAWKids, aimed at providing resources for kids and families living in Atlanta's Grove Park neighborhood.
The $15,000 donation check featured logos from Mike's group Run The Jewels, Monday Night Brewing, and The Eastern, a popular Atlanta music venue where RTJ will perform four back-to-back shows in support of their 10-year anniversary. In addition, Monday Night and RTJ collaborated to create new beer, a special-edition “Southern IPA" — all proceeds from the sale of the beer during the shows will go to PAWKids.
“I’m proud of this beer, but beyond the beer, I’m glad to know that just like good guys who gave me a lot of good advice in front of the liquor store, beer is going to help the community,” Mike, who also serves as a PAWKids board member, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “And I’m damn proud to be playing The Eastern for four nights, and that that money finds its way to the Grove Park community to help kids in working-class households. This to me is a lot of hands getting shaken at one time, and that’s the way the westside has always worked.”
Killer Mike recently dropped the deluxe edition of this critically-acclaimed solo album, MICHAEL, which features new songs “YES,” “GET SOME MONEY," “ACT UP," and "MAYNARD VIGNETTE." Grab tickets to the upcoming Run The Jewels anniversary shows here.
