In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, The Brooklyn Public Library and Jay-Z's Roc Nation have released 13 limited edition library cards bearing artwork from Jay's albums.
A spokesperson for the library says that the initiative has already resulted in 14,000 new library accounts. The commemorative cards are tied to The Book of Hov, an exhibit which explores Jay-Z's career through videos, recordings, photographs and other artifacts.
“The community’s enthusiastic response to this exhibition is a testament to Jay-Z’s immense impact,” Linda E. Johnson, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Public Library, told CNN.
The limited edition cards are free to residents of New York State, and they are able to collect all 13, but only one can be activated to a Brooklyn Public Library account to check out resources according to a library spokesperson.
