Jay-Z collaborator and producer DJ Quik took to IG to congratulate Jay on the historic accomplishment.
"Yo Quik we a national treasure," Quik said.
Jay-Z's lyrics from the Black Album are plastered all over the front of the Brooklyn Public Library. One of the songs that we wrote together, "Justify My Thug' is there and 'Encore'. If I didn't believe I was a national treasure, I believe it now. We GOATing on you motherfuckers."
Quik explained that he stopped writing lyrics down after working with Jay, a reference to Jay-Z committing all of his lyrics to memory.
"He did for me what he did for Wayne," he said. "After seeing him work I stopped writing down lyrics. He said that you have to live the verse in your head. If you live it, you don't have to write it down."
