Hip-Hop legend Ice-T has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In the ceremony, Law & Order creator Dick Wolf called him the "coolest guy I know" and said it was a "treat" to see his longtime friend, who he's worked with for 25 years via Law & Order: SVU, finally get his star. Ice-T plays detective Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola on the long-running series. Not only is SVU the longest-running primetime drama series of all time, but Ice-T is also the longest-running male actor in a TV series for his role.
"He is universally liked by his compatriots," Wolf said, adding that he hopes to work with him for another 25 years. SVU co-star Mariska Hargitay also spoke and expressed the same sentiment.
"It is so profoundly right that your name is now here commemorated forever in this place because there's something else that I hold sacred, and that is friendship," she said, after saying the Walk of Fame is especially special because her star is next to her mother's, actress Jayne Mansfield. "Your achievements and your artistry and your whole story runs so deep. At a time when people overuse words without thinking, you are indeed the real OG. To me, Ice, the reason you're here in my heart is because you are the OG of friendship. You are the real deal — my true blue, authentic, unshakeable friend, and I can't tell you what that means to me. You have been such a joy. You're the embodiment of loyalty. You tell the truth, you keep it real. We laugh every day, you grieve with me in times of sorrow, and you keep things in perspective. You've never failed me once. In 22 years, I've never heard Ice complain."
"Because hustlers don't complain, we figure it out," he interjected, before later adding that her speech had him "tearing up" and he didn't just wear his sunglasses to be cool.
