The first annual Harlem Festival of Culture is slated to take place in July.

The Harlem Festival of Culture was inspired by Amir "Questlove" Thompson's Oscar winning documentary Summer of Soul (...Or when the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) which was based on legendary but forgotten footage from the festival.

Like the original this newly imagined festival is set to take place at Marcus Garvey Park and will take place over multiple days (July 28-30). Hosted by MC Lyte, The Harlem Festival of Culture will feature live performances by Cam'ron, Ma$e, Fat Joe, Bell Biv Devoe, Remy Ma, Doug E. Fresh and more.

Discounted VIP and general admission tickets are available for Harlem residents and parking is first come first serve. Tickets are available here.

Last year, Michael Bivins of New Edition and Bell Biv Devoe was appointed Creative Director of the festival. Bivins oversees ideation and strategy initiatives to build the brand long-term. Yvonne McNair , HFC co-founder and talent technical producer said in a statement, "We are so excited to have someone like Michael Bivins on board as we start on this incredible journey. In addition to being a legendary artist and a brilliant businessman, Mike is a visionary and a creative force; his insight and experience will help us build out HFC as a cultural destination and a brand. Much like the original festival, artists’ voices will be a crucial part of the festival’s foundation and expansion as they will help us create a one-of-a-kind experience. We are also looking forward to fostering relationships with other artists and entertainers to be part of HFC. This is just the beginning.”

Wyclef Jean, who was appointed Chairman of The Music Advisory Board, expressed his love for Harlem in a statement. “I am thrilled to join HFC as Chair of their Music Advisory Board,” he said. “On a personal note, Harlem has always held a special place in my heart as I have performed there very early in my career and throughout.”
