Clinton himself will serve as an executive producer on the film, which will be directed by Bill Condon (who worked with Murphy on 2006's Dreamgirls). Bandleader, producer, and vocalist George Clinton is considered a pioneer in Funk music, providing lead vocals, producing, and writing several hits for Parliament, Funkadelic, and several related acts such as Parlet, The Brides Of Dr. Funkenstein, The Horny Horns, Xavier and many more.
Clinton's recordings have been sampled thousands of times by several Hip-Hop acts, forming the eventual basis of the West Coast sound. Rapper Wiz Khalifa portrayed Clinton in last years Spinning Gold, based on Casablanca Records .
