E-40 To Be Honored With 'E-40 Way' in Vallejo

The Vallejo City Council has unanimously decided to honor E-40 with a mile of Magazine Street between Laurel and Old Glen Cove Road, which will be named E-40 Way. 40, born Earl Stevens, grew up in Vallejo and actually released a song called "Magazine Street" on his 2015 album Poverty And Prosperity. 40 joins his Bay Area contemporary Too $hort as well as the Beastie Boys, Nipsey Hussle, and Big Pun as rap artists who have had streets named in their honor.

E-40 is no stranger to accolades — he received an honorary doctorate from Grambling State University in May of this year. 40 recently donated $100,000 to the university and joined forces with the GSU Tiger Marching Band for the video of his single "Bands." The university in return surprised him by unveiling the Earl "E-40" Stevens Sound Recording Studio.

Rock The Bells recently announced that 40's Goon With The Spoon and Earl Stevens Selections will be featured at the Food That Slaps Market at this year's Rock The Bells Festival.

In other E-40 news, the rapper and mogul appeared on a recent episode of the No Vultures podcast where he reminded listeners that he was the first man in Hip-Hop to receive a multi-million dollar distribution deal. 40 spoke of the historic deal with NPR in 2012.

"When we signed with Jive Records in 1994, a lot of people were like, ‘Man, they got a $3million deal!" he said. “You don’t get $3 million up front just like that. No, as a matter of fact, it was worth way more than that over the years.”
