In an interview with Access Hollywood, Diddy detailed the making of his new album, The Love Album: Off The Grid. Specifically, he talked about how his tribute his late ex, Kim Porter, came into fruition.
The song, which was written by legendary singer/songwriter/producer Babyface, was based on the story of Diddy and Kim.
“I got with Babyface, and I really told him the story of me and Kim,” Diddy said in the interview, as pointed out by Global Grind. “And I showed him this picture, and I said, ‘Babyface, I know your voice will penetrate the heavens above. I need you to sing this song to Kim, and I need her to hear it so she can come and visit me in my dreams,’ and that’s the story I really told him.”
John Legend is also featured on the song, which is a standout on the album.
“We started writing the song, and I was like, ‘I feel like I really want to make sure she gets the message’,” Diddy said. “And I call John Legend, and I was like, ‘John, I need you to sing to the heavens above’ and that’s how we got ‘Kim Porter.’”
In other Diddy news, he recently received a key to the city of New York. “The bad boy of entertainment is getting the key to the city from the bad boy of politics!” Mayor Eric Adams said as he presented a giant key to Combs in Times Square.
Of course, Diddy's reaction was enthusiastic. “Diddy finally has the key to the city!” he shouted. He later rode through Times Square clutching the key while leaning out of the window, declaring, "It's a love rampage."
