Bun B's Southern Takeover, a super popular event at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, sold over 16,000 tickets on the first day, putting it in the top spot for first-day sales for the Rodeo, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Bun celebrated the big sales on Instagram, saying that the 2023 event will feature a different lineup than last year's takeover. "Thank y’all for getting those first-day sales numbers up for me @rodeohouston and the Southern Takeover," the Hip-Hop legend wrote. "Now this won’t be the same show as last year. It’s a different lineup this time because we couldn’t repeat. Just so you know. But you’re guaranteed to have a damn good time! See y’all March 3!"

In a statement, Rodeo President and CEO Chris Boleman previously expressed excitement about Bun's involvement. “We are thrilled to welcome back so many talented artists including some fan favorites such as Houston rap legend, Bun B who will be taking the stage alongside some additional iconic southern performers. The level of talent we have in this lineup will get the fans excited, including Texas’ own Parker McCollum, who is helping us kick off this 2023, star lineup on Opening Day.”

Bun also hosted a historic takeover last year, and the Houston legend told CultureMap that this year's event will "have representation from the great state of Louisiana, the great state of Florida, the great state of Tennessee, the great state of Georgia, and most definitely the great state of Texas."

The Southern Takeover will take place on Friday, March 3 as part of Black Heritage Day. For a full schedule of Rodeo events and to purchase tickets, visit the official site here.
