Coolio's estate has announced that LONG LIVE COOLIO, a posthumous album featuring Treach and Too $hort is in the works.

On March 17, "TAG You It," the first single from the project featuring Too $hort will be available for streaming. A release date for the full project has not been announced. According to a statement from the estate, the new single is a follow-up to 2009's From The Bottom 2 the Top, and was produced by and features Coolio's long-time friend DJ Wino. The song and video, which will be released tomorrow, was originally intended for release while Coolio was still alive, and pays homage to '90s Hip-Hop.

"The song is catchy, raunchy and raw in the right ways," a statement about the project says. "This song is certain to create controversy and buzz."

Coolio died at the age of 59 in September 2022 of suspected cardiac arrest. In wake of his death, many of his contemporaries publicly shared their grief over the passing of the "Gangsta's Paradise" rapper.

"Coolio's passing has been rough on me," Young MC told ROCK THE BELLS. "I had just seen him at a show a week before and he looked fine. I literally got a call from someone who saw it online and asked me was it true." Coolio's close friend Tone Loc told TMZ "I would say myself, Young MC and Rob Base toured with Coolio the most. He is heavily missed by us. That's my boy."
