The estate of the late Tupac Shakur is reopening Powamekka Cafe in Los Angeles, on his birthday, June 16. The pop-up cafe first appeared in New York in 2017 in conjunction with Nas's Sweet Chick restaurant to celebrate 2Pac's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

"Tupac's creative vision was limitless," estate trustee Tom Whalley said in 2017. "He was constantly working on ideas and plans that reached far beyond music and film. One of the things he was extremely passionate about was opening a restaurant; he even sketched out plans and concepts for a menu. We are proud to bring Tupac's Powamekka Cafe to life."

The Los Angeles pop-up will take place in conjunction with Fixin's Soul Kitchen at 800 W. Olympic Boulevard and will operate from June 16 through June 30. The hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.- 11 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m - 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. Sunday.

According to 2Pac.com, the restaurant concept was based on notes and sketches from Tupac's notebooks. The curated experience realizes Pac's vision of a place for friends and family to get together and "escape the world's cold reality" while serving the finest in "down home Southern and Creole food from generations of recipes and traditions." Some of the late rapper's favorite meals fill the menu, including meatloaf, gumbo, and his cousin Jamala's fried chicken wings.
