The Legacy of Stetsasonic Celebrated in the Latest 'Unsung' Episode

Brooklyn's Stetsasonic were recently celebrated in TV One's latest episode of Unsung (4/14). Group members Daddy-O, Delite, Bobby Simmons, Wise, Prince Paul, and Fruitkwan shared first hand accounts of the band's rise from demo tapes to their deal with Tommy Boy Records. Questlove, Bow Legged Lou of Full Force, Tommy Boy CEO Tom Silverman, former Vice President Monica Lynch, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Ice T, Roxanne Shante, and Mister Cee shared stories of the band's influence.

The group discussed the ups and downs of their relationship with Tommy Boy, their participation in "Self Destruction" by the Stop The Violence Movement, and the making of their anti apartheid anthem "A.F.R.I.C.A". The splintering of the group, and Fruitkwan's departure were also discussed in the episode, along with Prince Paul's eventual departure after experiencing success producing his labelmates De La Soul.
