Trenton New Jersey's DJ Juice has passed away at the age of 54. Juice was known for his blends in addition to his pioneering work with video mixtapes. Juice, born Brian Short is a three time SEA Blends Award winner, as well as a recipient of Justo's Mixtape Award. Several Hip-Hop practitioners in and outside of New Jersey have paid their respects to Juice on social media.

"Like many of you my heart is broken right now because Trenton NJ has lost another one of its Sun’s," Culture Freedom of Poor Righteous Teachers posted. "He changed the way many DJs would start their blend and/or mixtape, which kept the culture wondering what was he gonna do next."

"Trenton, New Jersey lost a good person," Positive K's manager Angela Davis told Rock The Bells. Promoter Van Silk who worked with Juice noted that Juice was a part of the mixtape era that became profitable and a great promotional vehicle for artists and labels. "He was making blends, and he started making the mixtape blend videos. That's his legacy."
