Run-DMC's Documentary 'Kings From Queens' Nominated For 2025 Grammy For Best Music Film

Kings From Queens, Run-DMC's documentary with never-before-told stories and archival footage examines how the trio formed in the streets of Hollis, Queens, in New York City in the 1980s. The three part documentary premiered on February 1 and has been nominated for a 2025 Grammy in the Best Music Film category. Director Kirk Fraser and producer William H. Masterson III will take home trophy's along with Run and DMC if the film wins.

Kings From Queens is competing against Jon Batiste’s American Symphony, Steve Van Zandt’s Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple, June - the story of June Carter Cash, and The Greatest Night in Pop, which chronicles the making of “We Are the World.” Run-DMC has only been nominated for one Grammy previously which was in 1987 for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for Raising Hell, which they lost to Prince for "Kiss". The Grammy's introduced the rap honors one year later.
