On Dec. 5, 2011, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle debuted on VH1. Focused on rapper T.I. and R&B singer Tiny, the show played a significant role in introducing the family dynamics of Hip-Hop stars to mainstream audiences.
The show aired for six seasons until 2017, and followed the family through a number of life moments, from T.I. promoting his album, Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head, to Tiny managing her group OMG Girlz, to their kids graduation high school, and more.
In a 2015 interview with XXL, T.I. talked about the importance of family.
"Man, just be there," he advised regarding fatherhood tips. "Take time out and plan to listen to the things that are going on in their lives. As we become adults some things become unimportant to us, but at the time it’s the most important things that our kids have to deal with. You try to chime in on how they should handle it; give them the game. I just try to look at it like, when I was young and going through some of the things that may be trivial to me now, I had somebody to actually give me the game and navigate me through it, even if it was unimportant to them. Look at it like this: Are you thinking about your problems five years from now? Okay, cool. So we’re going to talk about it and we’re going to get through it. We’re going to take something away from it that will help us in the future. Really trying to keep that same mentality in any situation."
