On December 21, 2001, Redman and Method Man's stoner comedy, How High, hit theaters.
In the film, written by Dustin Lee Abraham and directed by Jesse Dylan, Meth played Silas P. Silas and Redman starred as Jamal King, two smokers who wound up enrolled at Harvard after a series of wild shenanigans.
Prior to the movie, Meth's film and TV career had already taken off, with recurring roles in critically acclaimed series like HBO's OZ and The Wire, as well the Hip-Hop cult classic, Belly. While Redman's acting career was further established with the film.
How High played on the pair's creative chemistry and their longtime friendship, which you can still witness today if you ever treat yourself to one of their dynamic live shows, which stand as among the absolute best in Hip-Hop.
"We built our brand to be like the top-five best performers in the hip-hop game," Redman told Thrasher in 2018. "And when we got dudes like Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and new dudes that’s putting—you know, when we got dudes like that watching us and when we set that kind of tone, and that bar, we have to stay on our job. And we learn from the best."
