Questlove is set to release his latest book, The Rhythm of Time, a "thrill-a-minute" middle-grade adventure featuring two "slightly nerdy" Black teens, seventh graders Rahim Reynolds and his brilliant bestie, Kasi Collins — they end up traveling through time and "inadvertently rewriting the future.”

Quest teamed up with New York Times best-seller, S.A. Crosby, whose incredible, action-packed first two novels, Blacktop Wasteland and Razorblade Tears have already been optioned for film by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Check out the synopsis: “Rich with pop-culture references but rooted in its portrait of its two unlikely heroes, The Rhythm of Time is a fast-paced story of how the best of intentions can unravel into the most dire of circumstances—and how those problems can only be solved through the power of family and friendship."

The Rhythm of Time is Questlove's fifth book, following 2013’s Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove and Soul Train: The Music, Dance, and Style of a Generation, 2016’s Something To Food About: Exploring Creativity with Innovative Chefs and more. Last month, Questlove launched a publishing imprint, AUWA Books. AUWA will publish fiction and nonfiction titles, and is "devoted to finding inspiring new stories and connecting readers to lost voices." The imprint's first title will be Sly Stone's memoir Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), set for release on Oct. 17.

“I have been writing books for over a decade,” Questlove, who will serve as publisher and editor-in-chief of AUWA, said of the launch in a statement. “So it seemed like a natural step to publish them too. I’m very excited about AUWA Books, from the books we have lined up to the books we haven’t discovered yet. Let’s take it to the page.”

The Rhythm of Time will be released on April 18.
