Although the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop is in the rear view mirror, classic and timeless Hip-Hop shows no signs of slowing down in 2024.

Along with other recipients — Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, the Clark Sisters, Tammy Wynette, and Laurie Anderson — N.W.A. will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 GRAMMY awards in Los Angeles.

“Their contributions to music span genres, backgrounds and crafts, reflecting the rich diversity that fuels our creative community," said Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. "We look forward to honoring these music industry trailblazers next month as part of our week-long celebration leading up to Music’s Biggest Night.”

N.W.A. will become the sixth Hip-Hop act to receive the GRAMMY’s Lifetime Achievement Award — joining Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Salt-N-Pepa, and Slick Rick.

Last year, the Recording Academy unveiled its inaugural Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, with Dre himself being its first ever honoree.

Additionally, DJ Kool Herc will be given the Trustees Award, a “Special Merit” award which Mason Jr. says was created for those who “reflect the rich diversity” that drives creative communities.

The 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4.
