The 9 foot tall statue of The Notorious B.I.G. that previously sat at Cadman Plaza and DUMBO's Clumber Corner now resides in Biggie's Bed Stuy neighborhood. The statue which is called Sky's The Limit In The County Of Kings was created by Queens based artist Sherwin Banfield, and is a bronze and stainless steel mixed media piece that depicts the legendary Brooklyn MC.

The statue was the centerpiece of last night's (2/15) kick off of Sky's The Limit:Music Is My Resistance at the Billie Holiday Theatre. “I’m excited for the community to appreciate it, to have an opportunity to see it to see something that is laced with traditional art and having the monumentality of materials, such as bronze and stainless steel, made in a new way for a futurism type of thing that plays Biggie’s music,” Banfield told The New York Daily News.

Banfield's sculpture was commissioned by the Downtown Brooklyn Dumbo Art Fund in conjunction with the New York Art In The Park program. “On the heels of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, we recognize Hip-Hop as a primary form of protest music through one its greatest griots," Billie Holiday Theatre executive director Shadawn Smith told The Daily News.

Sky's The Limit: Music Is My Resistance is free to view within the Billie Holiday Theatre's lobby and gallery hall until May 30.
