No Limit Records and Cash Money Records put New Orleans on the Hip-Hop map, and in a recent interview Baton Rouge native Boosie Badazz* was asked about the two iconic record labels. During an interview with VladTV, Boosie was asked to choose between the No Limit tank and the house that Birdman and Slim built.
“That’s a good one,” Boosie said. “That’s a good one, I don’t know.”
Boosie broke down the respective histories of the labels, examining Master P's California connection when he launched No Limit.
“‘Cause he even had West Coast people on his CDs,” Boosie said. “You know, naming West Coast names and stuff like that; so I would say after a couple years that’s when we really ‘Louisiana’ him, like he was the king of Louisiana. Cash Money was like a Louisiana born since, you knew them was New Orleans niggas, period … that’s what represented Louisiana as far as gangsta music.”
