De La Soul announced that the single and lyric video for "Plug Tunin'" will be released on Friday (3/31). The release is part of the continuing rollout of De La's catalog to streaming services which started on March 3, also known as De La Day.

Lyric videos for "Buddy" and "Eye Know" were released earlier this year. Six of De La Soul's albums are now available for streaming including 3 Feet High and Rising(1989), De La Soul Is Dead(1991), Buhloone Mindstate(1993), Stakes Is High(1996), Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump(2000), and AOI: Bionix(2001). Posdnous and Maseo recently appeared on the latest episode of ROCK THE BELLS' Influence of Hip-Hop where they revealed to LL COOL J that they will continue to release music after the loss of Trugoy The Dove in February.

"I personally feel that we have a responsibility to continue," Posdnous said. "Not only for [Dave's] legacy but for what we've done for Hip-Hop and for what Hip-Hop has done for us. We got involved in something as a childhood dream that actually became something bigger than us. To walk away from it would be like abandoning your child and I couldn't abandon this."

"Plug Tunin'" is De La Soul's debut single released on Tommy Boy Records in 1988 with "Freedom of Speak" and "Strictly Dan Stuckie." "Plug Tunin'" introduced the nicknames Plugs 1, 2 and 3 to Pos, Dove and Mase. The group revealed to ROCK THE BELLS that P Fine and DJ Red Alert were the first radio DJs to play "Plug Tunin.'"

"I just wanted to play with the static in the radio to be able to turn the dial while its playing," Maseo said. "I wanted to be able to go back to it and say that's my song, and then Red played it and that was a milestone. I had arrived, and I knew that if Red was playing it, then Marley was playing it. I was finally respected in Hip-Hop and it had nothing to do with money. It was about acknowledgment and respect.
