Missy Elliott hopped on Twitter to break down some of her most popular albums, including her acclaimed 1997 debut, Supa Dupa Fly. The Hip-Hop legend shared the details behind the making of the project, which birthed the hit lead single, "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" and its iconic video.

"My 1st album was stressfree because I didn’t have any expectations," she said. "My label told me they would give me my own label if I did 1 album so me and [Timbaland] completed this album in 2 weeks not knowing this would be the beginning of many more to come."

Missy also explained the history behind her 2003 project, This Is Not a Test! which featured a diverse roster of artists including The Clark Sisters, Jay-Z, and Mary J. Blige, and Beenie Man.

"I was back to SOUND EXPERIMENTING & we felt a little more free to explore since the other albums success," she shared. "But each album was a lil pressure except “SUPADUPAFLY” & “So Addictive” but each time we took a risk sonically."

Missy has a lot to celebrate this year — she had a street named after her in Portsmouth, VA, she received a wax statue at the Wax Museum and also celebrated her hit album, Under Construction, turning 20.

“I’ve done so many things out of the box, and I try to stay as true to myself as I can, even if ‘myself’ seems a bit crazy,” the rapper/producer told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “I continuously push the envelope just to do something that’s greater than the last. And it just keeps getting higher, the expectations for myself. Not just from what I think the people expect, but from myself.”
