MC Lyte has released her new album, 1 Of 1 featuring Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, Ghostface Killah, Q-Tip, Common Salt, and more. The 17 song project contains songs that range from the braggadocios content of her early material on songs like "To Rock The Mic", "Lyte Ghost Lil Mama", and "Life & Luxury" to positive social anthems like "Woman", "King King", and "Change Your Ways".

The singles "Woman" featuring Salt, Raheem De Vaughn, and Big Daddy Kane, "King King" featuring Queen Latifah , and "Thank You" featuring Mary Mary were released earlier this year. The first official video from the project is "Thank You", which finds Lyte watching the intro of the "Paper Thin" video where her intuition leads her to take the subway, then flashes back to 1984 where she rhymes on the train with a boom box. The song is a testimony to Lyte's belief in a higher power, and her thanks to God for deliverance.

Lyte credits both LL COOL J and Nas for encouraging her to release new music. "I sat with LL for a fireside chat for leading women to find, and he said to me, 'I got new music coming out'", the "Paper Thin" MC told AllHipHop. "I was like, 'Oh, that’s great. So how was that process?' He said, 'But what about you? Stop being scared, put out some music.'"

Lyte explained that Nas and his support of classic Hip-Hop further inspired her. "And then of course, Nas, he gives a call out to all people of the late ’80s, early ’90s. I slipped in at the end of the ’80s, but a lot of my success came from the ’90s And so he’s just like, 'Where y’all at? Drop some music.'
