On Sept. 28, 1988, MC Hammer dropped his sophomore album, Let's Get It Started, the follow-up to his 1986 debut, Feel My Power.
The album marked the Oakland native's major label debut, and the 11-track project was essentially a re-issue of Feel My Power with additional songs added. It featured a crop of hits, including "Pump It Up," "Let's Get It Started," "They Put Me in the Mix," and "Turn This Mutha Out" which sampled George Clinton's "Give Up The Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)" and landed at No. 3 on the US Rap charts.
