The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul is launching a new talk show. Mary J. Blige is slated to host a new show called The Wine Down on BET. A joint production from Blige's company Blue Butterfly and BET, The Wine Down will be hosted by the R&B legend—who will also serve as executive producer.

“Being able to now create together, for them to be so supportive of my vision for the type of content I will create, is something I am grateful and excited for," said Blige via statement. "We already have multiple projects in the works and there is much more to come."

Connie Orlando, BET EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, also shared the network's excitement for the new venture.

50 Cent, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg perform during the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium on February 13, 2022 in Inglewood, California.

“Throughout her legendary career, Mary has blazed trails to become a global superstar,” said Orlando. “With Blue Butterfly, Mary develops awe-inspiring stories of the Black experience while uniquely using music to set the foundation. Mary has been a vital part of the BET family and we are eager to see our partnership flourish through this partnership.”

The Wine Down is described as an unscripted talk show featuring the biggest names, across entertainment, sports, social media, and politics. Guests will engage in unfiltered and sometimes-controversial conversations over a bottle of wine. Actress Taraji P. Henson and Yung Miami of the City Girls are among the first guests.

Blige’s other recent contracts include a second-look scripted project with BET and a scripted TV project with Lionsgate Television.
