Ludacris has been given an honorary degree in Bachelor of Science in Music Management from his alma mater, Georgia State University. For the school's Commencement Week, Luda (born Chris Bridges) spoke to over 800 master's degree graduates on Wednesday (May 4).

Luda attended GSU in the 1990s, studying Music Management. He left the program once he landed a record deal.

“I went to this school and I never finished my credits,” Bridges said in an interview following the ceremony. “For them to come back and give me this honorary degree, it means the world to me, just for the simple fact that I always knew I wanted to come back. I always wanted to finish. I’m not a person who starts things and doesn’t finish."

"For me, it’s a full circle moment.”

Ludacris has been an artist-in-residence at the university since 2019, where the platinum-selling rapper has mentored students and helped professors in the Creative Media Industries Institute. GSU's College of Law also created a class called “The Legal Life of Ludacris,” to teach students about the business of the music industry.

In his words to the graduates, Ludacris encouraged them to be vessels for change.

“Our society wants positive change. They’re clamoring for it. They’re not satisfied with the status quo at all,” he told the audience.
