The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a Ventura County stay at home dad has come into the possession of Michael Jackson tapes recorded between 1989 and 1991. The cassette and DAT tapes were found by Gregg Musgrove in an abandoned storage unit deep in the San Fernando Valley. The unit once belonged to producer and singer Bryan Lauren.

There are reportedly 16 unreleased songs on the tapes, with some being partially released previously. “I’ve gone to all the fan sites. Some of [the songs] are rumored to exist, some of them have been leaked a little bit,” Musgrove told The Hollywood Reporter. “A couple aren’t even out there in the world."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, one of the more interesting songs is a collaboration with LL COOL J that features Jackson rapping on it. LL has spoken recently about his unreleased songs with the King of Pop.

"They weren’t good enough," he told KISS FM earlier this year. "We definitely made songs together. We made music together. One of them leaked a while ago, it was called ‘Serious Effect.’ That was one. But there was some other stuff and it just didn’t get there. Sometimes the art don’t get there. It just doesn’t get there. Being able to hang out with Mike and work with Mike and be in the studio with him, it was dope.”

Musgrove and his attorney approached the estate of Michael Jackson to sell the the tapes, but the estate wasn't interested. The estate did point out however that the music cannot be released publicly because Musgrove is not the copyright holder. Musgrove plans to take the recordings to the major auction houses.
