Lil Wayne has expanded his sports-centric portfolio as a new investor and strategic advisor of a Major League Pickleball team, the Texas Ranchers.
An Oct. 24 press release confirmed he’ll be joining the ownership team and will also serve as strategic advisor.
“Pickleball is the moment and I’m excited to be part of the Texas Ranchers ownership group,” he said in a statement. “I’ve enjoyed watching and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join this team of owners.”
Other new part owners of pickleball teams include The Kid LAROI, sports commentator and former NFL player Emmanuel Acho, 8VC venture capital partner Alex Moore and The Ruia Family, per the Austin American-Statesman. Major League Pickleball is picking up steam — it has expanded to 24 teams for the 2023 season, with investors including LeBron James, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.
On the music end of things, Lil Wayne's collaborative project with 2 Chainz, Welcome 2 ColleGrove , is set to drop in November. 2 Chainz made the announcement on a closed set filming with Rock The Bells for an upcoming project.
"This is a full circle moment," he said. Welcome 2 ColleGrove drops November 17.
