The Carters have a little healthy competition going. With the release of her critically-acclaimed album, Renaissance, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are now tied for the most Grammy nominations of all time, per Variety.
Beyonce received nine nominations and Jay received five for featured appearances. Here's the kicker, if Beyoncé wins four of her nine nominations, she will hold the record for most Grammy wins of all time, a record currently held by classical great Georg Solti with 31. Jay-Z previously held the most-nominated title, with 83 nominations, and recently decided to share a photo of himself holding a few of his statutes.
This is the first time Bey was nominated in the the Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album Categories. She's also up for: Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul”; Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for “Renaissance”; Best R&B Performance for “Virgo’s Groove”; Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic off the Sofa”; Best R&B Song for “Cuff It”; and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Be Alive” (from “King Richard”).
Bey leads the way in the nominations and is closely followed by Kendrick Lamar, who has eight.
