Fat Joe is on his way to becoming a published author. Roc Lit 101, the publishing house of Roc Nation, has announced the Bronx emcee’s first memoir, The Book of Jose, which is due to arrive on Nov. 1.

The memoir will chronicle Fat Joe’s evolution from a kid living in the South Bronx into one of the biggest rap icons in New York history. According to a press release, the book will “pull back the curtain on Joe’s challenging upbringing and give readers a look into his ascent to stardom, while candidly reckoning with the costs and rewards of that life: its tragedies, regrets, and glittering triumphs."

Roc Lit 101 is a new publishing company from Jay-Z’s Roc Nation that was created in partnership with Random House Publishing as it was announced in 2020. Aside from Fat Joe’s memoir, Roc Lit 101 confirmed the new partnership will also publish a memoir from Yo Gotti, as well as a book on criminal injustice by Meek Mill. Lil Uzi Vert will also reportedly pen a fantasy fiction title for the imprint.

“There are so many untold stories, and we consider it a true privilege to be able to amplify diverse voices while exploring the uncharted worlds that are about to open to us,” said Roc Nation’s executive vice president Jana Fleishman in a statement to the Associated Press. The imprint had previously published a CC Sabathia memoir as well as a book from famed journalist Danyel Smith last summer.
