On the latest episode of Kevin Hart's Hart To Heart, Dr. Dre revealed that his good friend The D.O.C. convinced him to record his game changing album, 1992's The Chronic.
"A close friend of mine called The D.O.C. talked me into doing The Chronic album," he said. "Money and business got involved and it seperated the [NWA] friendship. I had to separate myself from Eazy because he decided to take a different route and Cube had already left so I'm out here on my own and I have no idea what the fuck Im gonna do. I just know that I have this talent and I've been developing with mixing and this whole shit."
Dre explained that he felt that he was in a life or death situation at the time. "My back was against the wall," he remembered. "It was a life of death situation and this album was gonna decide if I stayed in the studio or not. It's a really weird dynamic and it's tough to find that kind of ambition and energy today."
