Boom Bap fans can rejoice in the news that DJ Premier and Nas have dropped a new single, "Define My Name", and announced a collaborative album to be released later this year. "Define My Name" is a mid tempo track with the scratched hook "what defines my name" from 1999's "Nas Is Like"(produced by Premier) from I Am.

Nas spits: "The name means protector/shorten it by two letters/without the ir at the end/the reincarnated Gil Scott livin' in the bottle again."

"Define My Name" drops just in time for the 30th anniversary of Illmatic, revered as one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time. DJ Premier produced "NY State of Mind", "Represent", and "Memory Lane" on Illmatic, and produced "Beat Breaks" featuring Nas in 2022.
