Jay-Z and Dame Dash reached a settlement in the court case, which involved Dash's attempt to allegedly sell a portion of the copyright to Jay-Z's solo album as an NFT. The parties announced in court papers that an agreement was reached where Dash could sell his one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records, but he could not "In any way dispose of any property interest in Reasonable Doubt."
Earlier this year Cam'ron and Mase announced hypothetically on their It Is What it Is Podcast that they purchased Dame's stake. When asked by co-host Treasure Wilson if the rumors were true that they were acquiring Dame's shares, Mase replied: "That would be a grandmaster chess move, lets just say hypothetically." Cam'ron added: "I'm just doing business bro, I'm not trying to play games or chess."
A disclaimer was posted on screen stating that the duo were speaking hypothetically, and they repeated that fact throughout the conversation. "Hypothetically it might have happened already, hypothetically," Cam said. "If we did, who would you sell it to?" Mase questioned. Cam suggested that he would "Hold onto it, like 'The Wu-Tang album [Once Upon A Time In Shaolin].'"
