TMZ has reported that 2 Live Crew member Brother Marquis, born Mark Ross has died at age 58. The group's official IG account has announced his death, and their manager confirmed his passing to IHeartRadio. Marquis follows his rhyme partner Fresh Kid Ice who passed in 2017. No cause of death has yet been confirmed.
Brother Marquis was a member of the group from their 1986 debut album, 2 Live Is What We Are through Move Somethin', and their controversial, banned 1989 album, As Nasty As They Wanna Be. As Nasty As.... was suffering from slow album sales until the obscenity ban. The lead single, "Me So Horny" was the group's first song to impact the top 40, reaching number 26 on Billboard's hot 100. The album also marked the first time that a southern rap group sold 1 million albums, achieving platinum status.
