Tara Hall, the widow of the late Biz Markie, is suing Biz’s former manager Jennifer Izumi for $100,000 in damages and complete control of Biz Markie Inc. according to WUSA channel 9, Baltimore. In federal court this week Hall sued Izumi claiming that she infringed on his trademark and misappropriated royalties and other funds, directing the payments to herself instead of his estate.

Biz Markie, Marcel Hall was a legendary Human Beat Box, D.J., Rapper and Hip Hop aficionado. He passed last July of complications from type 2 diabetes after spending more than a year in the hospital. Amongst claims against Izumi, the suit alleges that she switched the payee of Biz’s future royalties to her company, as well as obtaining a Payment Protection Program loan on behalf of Biz Markie Inc. that received of $20,000 in 2020 without his consent. The lawsuit contains nine counts against Izumi including breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and trademark infringement
