On a recent interview with Idea Generation, Big Daddy Kane revealed the details of a conversation that he had with Nas the first time that they met at Unique Studios in 1994.

“I’m telling him how phenomenal his album is, and he keeps asking me what he should have done different,” the “Ain’t No Half Steppin’” MC says. “People exaggerate with these 5 mic album [ratings], but your shit is a true 5 mic album,” he recalled telling the young Queensbridge MC.

When Nas asked Kane what he would have done differently, Kane shared that he would have made the album a bit more diverse.

“If it was me, I would have had one song on there for the ladies because they buy records too,” he shared. “That’s me, you did what you do, it was perfect. You don’t need to do what I do, Kane said before adding that one needs to be careful sharing that sort of information as not to change the direction of an aspiring artist.
